Ordinary resin lenses are thermosetting materials, which are liquid in raw form and form solid lenses after heating. PC lenses have strong toughness, can not shatter (2 cm can be used for bullet-proof glass), and are hence also known as safety lenses. The specific density of PC lenses is only 2 grams per cubic centimeter, which is the lightest material used for lenses. However, processing is more difficult, and the surface of the lens is very easy to scrape, and has poor thermal stability, becoming soft at 100 degrees Celsius.
